Research activity

The Plant Community Ecology Group is concerned with studying the composition and diversity of plant communities in relation to ecological factors and disturbance, on various temporal and spatial scales, with observations and field studies or studies in controlled environments.
The techniques used range from analysis of floristic data, sampling by various methods and on different scales, manipulation of factors determining diversity and reproduction of plant communities under control conditions. Special attention is paid to sampling, data reproducibility, spatial and temporal representativity and sources of error.

The main projects carried out:group are

Evaluation of methods for measuring and monitoring species diversity

Monitoring of forest species diversity in relation of global changes

Relations between species diversity of different plant groups

Ecology and dynamics of vegetation on ultramafic substrates

Ecology and restoration of semi-natural grasslands on calcareous substrates

GIS mapping: multitemporal analysis of vegetation change; textural analysis of landscape with structural indices
