Teaching Courses of Obstetrics and Gynecology

DEGREE PROGRAM IN MEDICINE AND SURGERY

General Aims of the Course of Gynecology and Obstetrics (V Year)

The course aims to make the student capable of defining the health of a woman in relation to the general health conditions. As such, the most important objective of the course is to resolve both gynecological and obstetrical problems in connection with general medicine.
Adolescence, fertile age and post-menopause are fundamental stages in the life of a woman and coincide with variations in the state of physical and mental health. The knowledge of such issues may augment the possibility for the doctor, who is not a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics, to make a diagnosis and to choose a more appropriate treatment and to be able to contribute to the prevention of tumors in the female reproductive system. Pregnancy is a condition which is characterized by modifications of the functions of various organs and systems and which can be associated with some pathologies of broad internal interest.
